Q: What have been some of your biggest successes for JurySync clients?

Demonstrating to battle-weary clients that jurors with negative predispositions are capable of making fair decisions, especially when you don’t play to their stereotypes.

Q: What’s something you wish more defense attorneys knew?

Jurors need something to stand for in deliberations. A persuasive case theory is one that replaces, not rebuts, the other side’s argument.

Q: Tell us something fascinating about human behavior.

Two jurors will quickly size each other up incorrectly and argue the exact same point without realizing it. Their snap judgments make them oblivious to the common ground between them.

Q: Tell us about your educational background

I earned a PhD in Legal Communication. I studied communication strategies and the psychology of juror decision-making. I learned how to leverage different research tools when preparing for litigation.

Q: How did you get into this line of work? What keeps you in it?

I was finishing up an independent study on communication and the law when I learned about a program designed to train jury consultants. I left southern California and headed to the Midwest, where I attended the University of Kansas. I dove in and never looked back.

I am intrigued by the power of words to bring meaning to evidence and equip jurors to make a fair and just decision.

Q: What have been some of your biggest professional achievements?

Leading a successful business for nearly two decades and cultivating an environment in which people and good ideas flourish.

Q: How did you grow up?

I was born in Wayne, New Jersey, but I grew up on 14 acres in Kansas City, Missouri, reading books, riding horses and planting Christmas trees.

Q: What are you passionate about outside of work?

Getting to play a role in the development of two talented, creative and hilarious boys.
